Solidity at ANTI-FRAUD FORUM 2026
On September 24, Kyiv hosted the annual industry event ANTI-FRAUD FORUM 2026, organised by the Business-Format Group. The forum brought together leading experts in cybersecurity, fintech, the banking sector, and risk management to discuss advanced strategies for countering financial crime in Ukraine.
Solidity was represented at the forum by Sergiy Soproniuk, Head of the Anti-Fraud Department, who delivered a presentation titled “Modern Fraud Detection Methods with IBM Safer Payments.” Drawing on years of hands-on experience delivering large-scale projects across Ukraine and internationally, he focused on the everyday realities modern financial institutions encounter.
Today, the financial threat landscape has transformed dramatically. Lone hackers have been replaced by well-organised criminal syndicates armed with artificial intelligence, sophisticated deepfake attacks, and advanced social engineering techniques, which account for up to 85% of all fraud cases in the domestic market. In parallel, data monitoring volumes are scaling exponentially: while a few years ago systems evaluated up to 100 parameters, a modern transactional profile incorporates 300 to 700 diverse behavioural attributes.
Discussing the dynamics of this ongoing battle, Sergiy Soproniuk debunked the widespread myth of a “set-and-forget” anti-fraud setup, stressing the necessity of continuous adaptation:
“If anyone harbors the illusion that an anti-fraud system built once will work forever, that simply isn't true. If you are of interest to fraudsters as a financial institution, you will always be a target. Even when implemented countermeasures cut fraud incidents by over 90%, within a few months criminals adapt and discover new loopholes. It is an endless game of cat and mouse that never stops.”
This is why today’s banking ecosystem requires a solution capable of evolving dynamically alongside emerging schemes. IBM Safer Payments delivers precisely this capability—engineered by fraud-prevention practitioners for rigorous, day-to-day operational use. The platform performs real-time transaction scoring in mere milliseconds, instantly intercepting suspicious activity without introducing friction for legitimate customers.
Special attention during the session was devoted to the platform's flexibility: IBM Safer Payments seamlessly integrates with popular data science tools (Python, R, SAS) via the PMML standard and features a built-in simulation module. This simulation capability empowers analysts to test hypotheses, rule sets, and machine learning models against actual historical transactions before moving them into production.
Concluding his presentation, Sergiy highlighted that the highest operational efficiency stems from the synergy between advanced technology and human expertise. No artificial intelligence can replace the domain acumen of an experienced team, just as fraud teams can no longer manually sift through colossal volumes of data. Only the combination of in-depth analytical domain knowledge, consistent model retraining, and a resilient technological core like IBM Safer Payments enables financial institutions to remain resilient against next-generation threats.
